Porto Cristo Festivities
The festivities of Carme de Porto Cristo are a celebration with events for all audiences that are repeated every year during the summer, usually during the month of July.
The festivities start with the Porto Cristo drum band that goes around the town. This is followed by a series of events organized by the associations and citizen organizations of Porto Cristo.
For many years we have been able to see the participation in the festivities of different schools or academies teaching the public some of their performances, such as martial arts schools and dance academies. Fair booths are also set up on the promenade and musical events are organized.
The Virgin Mary of Carmen
In a village founded by fishermen, the patron saint of Porto Cristo is the Virgin Mary of Carmen. In honor of the Patroness, a mass is celebrated followed by a procession led by the sailors carrying the image of the Virgin Mary of Mount Carmen.
When they arrive at the dock next to the sea, after crossing several streets, the Virgin is embarked and accompanied by a large number of fishing and recreational boats well decorated that continue the procession by the sea.
